Music is one of the major stimuli for our Reception pupils; from daily rhyme, song and learning rhythm through our drumming lessons, music is woven through all aspects of the Reception curriculum. From year one we follow the Charanga scheme to ensure that our pupils have a progressive immersion in their music education. We develop the importance of singing through our weekly assemblies and class and school productions which in turn, helps to develop the confidence of our pupils in a wide range of situations.

We work closely with the Schools Music Service. We have  visiting music specialists who deliver the Sounds Tots Programme in Reception (supporting children’s language development, memory, listening and attention skills) and teach a pitched instrument lesson in Years 3 and 4; allowing all our children an opportunity to learn a musical instrument during their time here.
